The DG NACA meets with the U.S. President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) Deputy Country Coordinator and her team

NACA held a productive meeting held on Tuesday, March 26th, 2024, between our new Director General, Dr. Temitope Ilori, and the U.S. President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) Deputy Country Coordinator, Ms. Funmi Adesanya, along with their respective teams.

This important visit served as a platform for open dialogue and collaboration on advancing the fight against HIV/AIDS in Nigeria. Ms. Adesanya presented a comprehensive overview of PEPFAR’s proposed strategy and global priorities, highlighting key initiatives such as:

  • PEPFAR’s Global 5×3 Strategic Direction and Critical Enablers: This framework outlines ambitious goals to significantly reduce HIV incidence, AIDS-related deaths, and HIV stigma by 2030.
  • Optimizing Sub-population and Geographical Inequities to Reach and Sustain 95-95-95 by 2025: This initiative emphasizes the need for targeted interventions to address disparities in access to prevention, testing, and treatment services among vulnerable populations and geographically disadvantaged areas.
  • The National Alignment 2.0 (One Country, One Vision, One Sustainability Plan): This program fosters a unified approach among stakeholders to ensure long-term, sustainable HIV/AIDS programming in Nigeria.
  • Alignment 2.0 (GoN Resources Required for Sustainable Delivery Architecture): This aspect focuses on identifying and securing the necessary government resources to support the effective implementation of the National Alignment 2.0 plan.

Dr. Ilori expressed her sincere appreciation for PEPFAR’s longstanding commitment to tackling HIV/AIDS in Nigeria. She reaffirmed NACA’s unwavering dedication to the established partnership and emphasized her personal commitment to driving the National Alignment 2.0 initiative forward.

This meeting signifies a renewed spirit of collaboration between NACA and PEPFAR. Through continued joint efforts, we are confident in achieving the goals outlined in the National Alignment 2.0 plan, ultimately leading to a future free from the burden of HIV/AIDS in Nigeria.
