NACA DG AT THE WORLD HEALTH ASSEMBLY IN GENEVA

Geneva, Switzerland – May 22, 2025

Dr. Temitope Ilori, Director-General of the National Agency for the Control of AIDS (NACA), has been actively participating in key discussions at the ongoing World Health Assembly (WHA) in Geneva, focusing on aligning global health strategies with national and regional priorities. The Director general NACA contributed her expertise to a significant panel discussion. The session, held as a side event during the assembly, centered on the crucial topic of “Aligning Innovation with National and Regional Health Priorities.” Her participation underscored Nigeria’s commitment to leveraging innovative approaches to address pressing health challenges.

Further demonstrating Nigeria’s engagement at the global health forum, the NACA Director-General, alongside Professor Mojisola Adeyeye, Director General of the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC), attended the main World Health Assembly plenary session at the Palais des Nations on May 21st. Their presence highlights Nigeria’s active role in shaping global health policy and discourse.

Dr. Ilori also attended a strategic breakfast meeting focused on “Strengthening Climate-Resilient Health Systems.” This engagement reflects the growing recognition of climate change’s impact on health and the need to build adaptive and robust healthcare infrastructures.

The Director-General’s participation in these diverse events ensures that Nigeria’s health priorities, particularly in HIV response and broader health system strengthening, are voiced and integrated into global health agendas.
