ENGAGEMENT OF CONSULTANT FOR REVIEW OF THE INTEGRATION OF HIV SERVICES AND ENROLLMENT OF PLHIV INTO HEALTH INSURANCE SCHEMES IN NIGERIA

1.    Background

The HIV/AIDS response financing in Nigeria is still heavily dependent on donor funds with limited government contribution. Integrating HIV services into State Health Insurance Schemes (SHIS) aligns with Nigeria’s goal of achieving universal health coverage (UHC) and ensuring access to quality healthcare for all citizens, including PLHIV. This will contribute in reducing out-of-pocket expenses and providing a sustainable financing mechanism for HIV/AIDS response, it will significantly contribute to increasing domestic resourcing of the HIV response and ensure that all individuals, regardless of socioeconomic status, have access to essential HIV/AIDS care and will promote health equity and reduce disparities in healthcare access across different regions of the country.
