APYIN Meet with NACA’s DG to Discuss HIV/AIDS Initiatives

The Association of Positive Youth in Nigeria (APYIN) recently paid a courtesy visit to the Director-General of the National Agency for the Control of AIDS (NACA), Dr. Temitope Ilori. The meeting was attended by APYIN’s Youth Leader, Mr. Aaron Sunday, his team, Dr. Ilori, and other NACA directors.

During the visit, Mr. Aaron Sunday congratulated Dr. Ilori on her appointment and expressed gratitude for NACA’s ongoing support of APYIN and its mission. Key topics of discussion included efforts to combat the HIV/AIDS epidemic and strengthen outreach to rural areas.

APYIN also sought NACA’s support for the upcoming Nigerian HIV Youth Conference, scheduled to take place in Abuja from May 7th to 9th, 2024. Both parties agreed on the importance of addressing human rights challenges to eliminate stigma and discrimination.

Discussions also covered strategies to prevent new HIV infections in infants and the necessity of educating young people on how to protect themselves and their future families from HIV transmission.

The meeting concluded on a positive note, with both APYIN and NACA reaffirming their commitment to joint efforts in raising awareness, ending stigma, and promoting safe practices to curb new HIV infections at state and local levels.
