Dr. Temitope Ilori

Director General, NACA

The National Agency for the Control of AIDS (NACA) is proud to announce the appointment of Dr. Temitope Ilori, PhD, MBBS as our new Director-General. Dr. Ilori’s term will commence on February 22nd, 2024, and she will serve an initial four years.

Dr. Ilori brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to NACA. Prior to her appointment, she served as a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Community Medicine at the University of Ibadan and a Consultant Family Physician at the University College Hospital, Ibadan, Nigeria. Her impressive academic background includes an MBBS degree from the University of Ibadan, residency training at the University College Hospital, and a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) fellowship focused on Family Medicine and Primary Care. Dr. Ilori’s research interests perfectly align with NACA’s mission, encompassing areas like Primary Care, Immunization, Public Health Nutrition, Non-Communicable Diseases, and Women’s and Child’s Health. Her dedication to research is further evidenced by her co-authorship of over 30 publications in esteemed scientific journals.

Dr. Ilori’s expertise extends beyond academia. She possesses a strong track record in policy formulation and strategic development. Her previous role as Commissioner for Health in Osun State, Nigeria, from 2011 to 2014, demonstrates her commitment to public health leadership. During this time, she also served as Chairperson of the Osun State Agency for the Control of HIV/AIDS (O-SACA) and the Osun State Technical Working Group on Immunization, showcasing her dedication to combating HIV/AIDS and other critical public health issues.

NACA is confident that Dr. Ilori’s exceptional qualifications, experience, and leadership skills will be instrumental in guiding the agency towards even greater success in the fight against HIV/AIDS in Nigeria.
