The National Agency for the Control of AIDS (NACA) is proud to announce the appointment of Dr. Temitope Ilori, PhD, MBBS as our new Director-General. Dr. Ilori\u2019s term will commence on February 22nd, 2024, and she will serve an initial four years.<\/p>\n
Dr. Ilori brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to NACA. Prior to her appointment, she served as a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Community Medicine at the University of Ibadan and a Consultant Family Physician at the University College Hospital, Ibadan, Nigeria. Her impressive academic background includes an MBBS degree from the University of Ibadan, residency training at the University College Hospital, and a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) fellowship focused on Family Medicine and Primary Care. Dr. Ilori\u2019s research interests perfectly align with NACA\u2019s mission, encompassing areas like Primary Care, Immunization, Public Health Nutrition, Non-Communicable Diseases, and Women\u2019s and Child\u2019s Health. Her dedication to research is further evidenced by her co-authorship of over 30 publications in esteemed scientific journals.<\/p>\n

2. Facilitate the engagement of all tiers of government and all sectors on issues of HIV\/AIDS prevention, care and support;<\/p>\n
3. Advocate for the mainstreaming of HIV\/AIDS interventions into all sectors of the society;<\/p>\n
4. Formulate policies and guidelines on HIV\/AIDS;<\/p>\n
5. Support HIV\/AIDS research in the country;<\/p>\n
6. Mobilize resources (local and foreign) and coordinate equitable application for HIV\/AIDS activities;<\/p>\n
7. Provide and coordinate linkages with the global community on HIV\/AIDS;<\/p>\n
8. Monitor and evaluate all HIV\/AIDS activities in the country;<\/p>\n
9. Facilitate the development and management of the policies and strategies of all sectors to ensure the human, financial and organizational resources to support the successful execution of the national HIV\/AIDS response programme.<\/p>\n
10. Establish, encourage and promote training programme for the employees of the Agency and other appropriate persons from public or private organizations;<\/p>\n
11. Perform such functions as may, from time to time be assigned to it by the Government; and<\/p>\n
12. Facilitate collaboration for the management of HIV and opportunistic infections.<\/p>\n
