NACA in collaboration with SACAs, key partners and stakeholders are currently working on the development of a follow on project to the HIV/AIDS Programme Development Project (HPDP). The original HPDP was approved in 2001 and became credit effective in 2002 and with additional financing has been extended to June 2009.   Several key documents are in the process of being finalized including the Project Appraisal Document and the Project Implementation Manual and in due course will be posted on The World Bank Group’s website and we will seek approval to also place on our website when completed.

All HIV/AIDS World Bank Projects are now classified under the World Bank’s environmental guidelines as category B triggering the need for assessments of environmental and social impacts. As part of the project’s overall commitment to openly sharing key documents the web site will contain key documents on the environment and social aspects and plans to mitigate the risks and put in place appropriate safeguards.

NACA has forwarded on behalf of the overall Programme the Environmental and Social Management Framework (ESMF) Report prepared by independent experts to the Federal Ministry of The Environment to begin the required period of public disclosure and consultation. Copies have already been forwarded to key networks and organizations particularly within Civil Society and The Private Sector and in due course we will also post another report assessing the risks of medical wastes and specifically applying the National Medical Waste Policy and Plan to the programme. It is anticipated this will be available before the end of December 2008.
