Increase access to prevention, care and treatment of HIV/AIDS in the 36 states of Nigeria

Objectives
- To scale up comprehensive HIV/AIDS treatment, care and support for people living with HIV/AIDS to all 37 States in the country
- To expand access to Counselling and Testing services to cover 37 states of the country
- To strengthen the role of the community, civil society organizations and networks of PLWHA in providing and supporting HIV/AIDS treatment and care
- To increase access to Care and Support services for OVC in 37 states of the country
- To increase the capacity of the private sector to implement workplace HIV/AIDS programmes in 12 states, and
- To strengthen the capacity of implementing institutions for effective programme management, coordination, monitoring and evaluation.

Round 8 (HSS Component)
Programme Summary
Focus
To contribute to the restoration of public confidence in primary health care services in Nigeria, and thereby reverse declines in the utilization of primary health care facilities.

Objectives/Activities
- Improving the infrastructural capacity of the Primary Health Care Centres to provide services;
- Instituting preventive maintenance systems (for refurbished and new facilities) at local government area (LGA) level;
- Integrated training to address the immediate challenge of upgrading technical and managerial competencies of primary health care workers;
- Ensuring integrated supportive supervision (ISS) by LGA primary health care managers and program coordinators for primary health care staff and facilities;
- Reinvigorating the National Health Commodities Logistics Steering Committee
- Improving the storage capacities at Central Medical Stores (CMS) and “zonal medical stores”- in line with the recommendations from the mapping report. (The zonal stores are upgraded state medical stores (SMS); these stores are already selected as part of the current tuberculosis program efforts); and
- Strengthening the capacity of the ATM CSO networks in management, technical and operational skills to generate demand for and provide services in key ATM interventions.
